 Physical and sports education today:

Physical and Sports Education has undergone profound changes under the influence of the progress made in the field of human sciences (especially in child and adolescent psychology) applied to education.

This development is being felt in two ways:

 - on a technical level, in the very conception of the goals of the physical exercises:

 - at the educational level, by integrating sports education into a global educational project.

Let us borrow an example of this evolution from the field of constructed gymnastics ...

There was a tendency to believe that the correction of the posture was linked to muscular work alone. But it is easy to see that the constructed mental attitude ... is of such great importance: the overwhelmed man does not have the same attitude as the victorious man, nor the timid as the shameless....

Correcting a posture may require replacing segments (limbs, spine, etc.). For this, it is not enough to build muscles: the student must also become aware of his usual outfit. which probably seems good to him. This awareness will be achieved through the brain: it will solicit the nerve cells and not the muscles. as one would be tempted to believe.

From this observation. the teaching will be different and will call on the pedagogical process of contrast to take a bad position. then a correct attitude, asking the pupils to “feel” the difference. therefore to analyze it, to become aware of it.

The exercise will not be imposed from the outside. Rather, the educator will strive to awaken the correct sensations in the pupil who will thus get used to controlling himself.

Physical activity therefore engages the whole personality. Therefore, its educational value goes beyond purely physical training. It contributes. with other subjects, for general educational purposes.

The main thing is no longer the technique and know-how, but the student who uses them. Physical exercise is no longer an end in itself. The child or the young person takes precedence over the technique. The educator is less interested in the exercise and more in the exercise. He cares less about conforming the child to a model; rather he tries to endow him with a great motor availability which will make him suitable and. better yet, adaptable.

This example sheds light on the orientation of this blog: the different parts of Physical Education and Sports are approached in turn, but in a common perspective meet the needs of the student by developing at home, according to his age and of his psychology of qualities, not only sporting but also human.
